Roger Cook, founder of K&R Tree and Landscape Company and long-term cast member of This Old House and Ask This Old House passed away on August 21, 2024 after a long battle with illness.
Dad and I started working on this newsletter as a project for him to stay busy and an opportunity to continue to help his fans. Dad spent his entire life helping people- friends, family and customers. One of the biggest regrets with his illness was that he could no longer help people in the same way. With that in mind dad asked us to set up a family foundation so that we can continue his legacy as a helper going forward.
Dad identified several areas he was passionate about that we intend to focus the foundation on- most importantly wildlife and land conservation but also medical research, childhood education and military veterans. Dad will be contributing a meaningful portion of his estate to the foundation and if you are willing to join him, the entire Cook family would be grateful for honoring his legacy.
We would encourage you to follow dad’s instagram account, @rogercooktoh where going forward we’ll provide updates on foundation activity and share memories of dad.
We are forever grateful for the love the TOH fan base has showed dad over the years.
All funds will be contributed to the Cook Family Giving Fund, a Massachusetts corporation that is pending approval as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Your dad has been a meaningful part of my life, though we never met. This Old House is like home to me. There is something about seeing capable men, and now women! Doing things that need to be done, that makes me feel safe.
